GEOCON has appointed Sydney content strategist Michelle Rowe to the new position of Group Head of Communications.

“As Canberra’s largest developer of high-rise residential apartments and mixed-used developments, GEOCON is experiencing rapid growth across our residential, hospitality and investment portfolios,” Managing Director Nick Georgalis said.

“Michelle’s unparalleled work history as both senior journalist and content manager has given her the perfect combination of skills and experience to lead the high-pressure communications demands of our growing company, and she has already hit the ground running.

“A consummate team leader, she is building a stable of exceptional communications practitioners who will bring to life the rich content that lies within our business, and drive our digital and traditional media footprints to increasingly wider audiences,”
Mr Georgalis said.

Michelle had a distinguished career as a journalist in Australia and overseas prior to taking up her recent role as Director of Editorial and Content for Destination NSW. She has extensive experience in the public and private sectors, including global publishing houses such as Trinity Mirror Group, Post Publishing Company, ACP and News Corp. More than 25 years’ experience as a writer, editor and senior manager across newspapers, magazines, television and digital sites for publishers, broadcasters, tourism, major events and advertising agencies in Sydney, London, Bangkok and Perth has made her a commercially astute communicator. She is renowned as a leading travel and food writer and was travel editor and food editor for The Australian and Deputy Editor of Gourmet Traveller.

At Destination NSW, Michelle led a high-performance team developing content for multi-media integrated tourism and event marketing campaigns designed to resonate with consumers and drive brand recognition. Of particular note was her responsibility managing all aspects of content creation for Vivid Sydney, the biggest festival of its kind in the world, including large-scale filming and photography projects, locations, logistics and risk management.
